Crawler Excavator vs. Wheeled Excavator

Crawler excavator: Lower ground pressure (often 35–55 kPa with wide track shoe width) suits soft subgrade, deep digging depth, and high breakout force work. Most quarry and highway cut sites specify crawlers when operating weight stays on one pad for weeks.

Wheeled excavator: Road travel without a lowboy cuts mobilization cost on urban paving and multi-site utility shifts. Trade-off: higher ground pressure on soft fill and less stability when digging depth and stick force rise near slope edges.

Link-Belt field packs list both options with operating weight, bucket capacity (m³), and gradeability so the geotech report—not habit—decides the undercarriage.

Electric Overhead Crane vs. Diesel Mobile Crane

Electric overhead crane: Lower energy cost per lift hour and zero on-site exhaust for fixed plant bays. Best when the building can host runway beams and the lift path stays inside one hall for years.

Diesel mobile / crawler crane: No permanent runway investment; lifting capacity and boom length move with the segment yard or barge dock. Fuel, Tier 4 Final regen, and ground-pressure mats become part of the lift plan.
